Schooner Wharf Restaurant & Bar Reviews |
 |
|
The
Schooner Warf in Key West, Florida is located on the historic seaport harbor
walk. We found this very local bar cruising around old town. It is right on
the fishing docks facing the Key West Bight! To our surprise it is a dog
friendly establishment!
We read a lot of history about the Schooner Warf while were there. We found
it was originally on a schooner boat and moved ashore and evolved into the
eclectic saloon we stumbled on to. We were happy to see the top shelf liquor
is no longer kept in a filing cabinet as noted in their history.
We sat in an open air saloon type atmosphere decorated with a nautical
furnishings. The breeze from the ocean was cool enough to forget about how
hot is was on the street. We enjoyed live music from a local musician who
played island tunes.
The Schooner Warf serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The seafood is
fresh off the fishing docks. We were lucky to be there while the Stone Crabs
were in season. What a treat to try the fresh cooked claws right out of the
traps, just a few hours earlier.
The breakfast menu had Shrimp Benedict and Shrimp Florentine! It was so
tasty and went down good with a Mango Mimosa!
The lunch and dinner menu have so many fresh seafood choices. We had to come
back another night to be sure we did not miss something wonderful. We tried
the Mojo fish sandwich. Mojo is a Caribbean marinade with a sour orange
base. It was great marinated with fresh snapper! Another choice we tried was
the fresh Mahi Melt prepared differently that what you would think a melt
should be like. it was a tasty surprise with the addition of mango sauce.
They make their own original sauce!
We enjoyed the casual dining and menu packed with gourmet taste. The whole
Schooner Warf experience was warm and friendly. The locals were helpful in
guiding us on where to go and what to see. The staff was friendly and the
service was out standing. We even liked the company of dogs! We felt at home
and went back more than once during our vacation. It was nice to be welcomed
back each visit. We just can't get enough of the historic water front in Key
West. The Schooner Warf is a must see for all!
