The Marker Waterfront Resort
ReviewsMy husband and I live a few hours north of the Keys and visit as often as we can. We have our favorite places to stay when we go and when I heard they were building a new resort for the first time in 20 years, I had to check it out. Take it from someone who has been vacationing in the Florida Keys and Key West for the last 30 plus year The Marker Resort in Key West is a very special place to stay, and dare I say the best. Starting with its strongest point; the location. If you've never visited Key West, then you may not know which is the best area to stay. This can vary from person to person, but in general if you want to be closest to all the bars, restaurants and main attractions then you'll want to stay on the western tip of the island. This is where Sloppy Joes, Mallory Square and pretty much all the museums are located. Being within a convenient walking distance to all these attractions is a major plus. One thing about staying down on this end of Duval st is it can get a little noisy. That's one of the many unique facts about The Marker we love. It's just out of earshot of all the loud party until 4am spots. So you really have the best of both worlds. The cherry on top of this cake is the view. We stayed in an Oceanview king room with a private balcony. This is a postcard view of a beautiful marina with boats and sets you right into a Caribbean state of mind. No overlooking a canal and calling it an ocean view here. This is the real deal and we got some amazing pictures right from our balcony. The final pleasant surprise was the price. This is by no means a cheap motel so I expected it to be priced much higher. We stayed right in high season and I checked the neighboring resorts and they were close in price but all just a little more expensive that the new Marker. Easy decision.
Just got back from a week stay down in Key West and stayed at The Marker Resort. Wow, what a place. I'm not going to write much of anything new here, everyone is talking about how nice it is and its location. All of which are fantastic, along with being one of the only resorts in Key West with 3 pools. It may be the only one. I especially liked the fact that one of the pools is reserved for the adults. This is a major fact for anyone traveling for a romantic getaway like my girlfriend and I. Nothing against kids, but they can easily shatter a nice tropical setting. Finding that at any resort these days is difficult and makes this the only place I will ever stay. Convenient to everything you come to the keys to see and do, if you want the best Key West has to offer this is it. The food and drinks at the poolside bar is outstanding and if you’re anything like us, you may not leave the property during the day. All the best nightlife is just down the street and the walk back to the hotel at 4am isn't sketchy at the least. This is a very laid back safe place, but it's nice to know you are surrounded by mansions and well-lit streets. That's the case here. They hit a homerun with this place and it's the best resort in Key West in my opinion.
