1800 Atlantic Key West Reviews

When we arrived at the Reach Resort Key West it felt like we had arrived in paradise. White sandy beaches were our backyard and the water was such a beautiful blue-green color, unlike anything I had seen before. After checking in we explored the grounds and were delighted by the private beach around the pool area, it was really a gorgeous setting. The suites are tropical style so famous for Key West, cool colors and tile floors, but it was done with elegance, luxury and was not overdone.

We checked into a one bedroom suite with a large balcony that had an overlook out over the ocean and the pool area. The room had a wonderful "new" smell, almost as if it had just been remodeled it was that clean. Although I didn't make much use of it, I had no problem using the room's high speed connection and the robes provided were plush and comfortable. It was fun and relaxing to just sit and do nothing but a little people and ocean watching. The color of the ocean with the sparkle of the sun was really mesmerizing and relaxing. When we weren't taking in the ocean scenery we went jet skiing and snorkeling. Our first night we decided to eat at Shula's restaurant which was located right at the resort. The food was so good we ate there several more times.

As we began to branch out a little, we discovered a number of great restaurants close to the resort and it was an easy walk back after a wonderful meal. Duvall Street, which has been compared to New Orleans' Bourbon Street, is a hot spot of activity, live music, bars, ice cream shops and at the top of our list for rum-based drinks. Just a note, Duvall Street is not particularly cut out for children. The only thing I would do differently is rather than "cabbing" it when needed, I would get a Bone Island Shuttle pass. If walking is not your thing and cabs are getting too expensive, the shuttle is cost-effective and goes all around the island.

While we did see a few sites, most of our afternoons were spent enjoying the pool-side bar and the glorious sunshine. For a resort property we felt the pricing was in line and not overly exuberant and the staff was informative and helpful. Our next trip will include the Reach Resort and I might even try my hand at parasailing.
