Papa's Hideaway Key West Reviews We stayed at Papas Hideaway in Key West last week and wanted to rave a little about their hotel. First of all, the owners/managers Andrea and Fred are actually there at the hotel and are very nice. They genuinely wanted to make sure our stay was not only enjoyable, but memorable as well. They know everything there is to know about Key West. We didn't stump them once. Having the knowledge of long time locals is invaluable when you travel, especially with so many hidden secrets like Key West has. I Googled Key West Hotels and found this site which listed places to stay in Key West by price, which was brilliant. I called and booked a little cottage directly, and from the moment we made the reservation to the moment we left, it was obvious this was not a typical accommodation. As the name does suggest, Papas is truly a hideaway. It's on a dead end street, which there are very few of, so that meant very little to no traffic or the noise that goes with it. This little hideaway is really quit and tranquil as a result of it's fantastic location. Duval, the southernmost point, the southernmost beach, and all the excitement that your likely going to travel to Key West for is a short walk away. Most hotels and bed and breakfasts pride themselves on being right on top of the action, however the action goes all night along with the traffic in front of most hotels, so Papas Hideaway has a huge advantage and superior location to most places you might be looking to stay. It makes for a very romantic setting as well. We wanted a little cabana or tropical cottage that had an island feel. We didn't want to stay in a standard type of hotel that we could get anywhere else. Unfortunately most of the accommodations are big hotels and most of the bed and breakfast ins and guesthouses still have a hotel set up with rooms side by side. Our little cabana style cottage was perfect, clean, and very comfortable. We slept in and stayed out late every night. Free breakfast is always a big plus in our book, but can and usually does leave you disappointed. Not Papas breakfast. It was a nice spread under the palm trees on a little patio. We ate sometime in the room and sometime out on the patio and met other guests. We ran into a couple one morning that had been traveling and vacationing in Key West for over 30 years and they said that Papas Hideaway is by far the best place to stay. We shared some of the things we had done per the owners recommendations and they said they were taking great care of us and we weren't missing a thing. So if you take my word for it and that of long time fans of the island, you'll be glad you stayed with Papa. Love name! We'll be back. Thanks.
