 Lighthouse Court Key West Reviews

I was headed to the Key West area and was in the market for a hotel that was budget friendly, comfortable and in a good location. I ran across the Lighthouse Court. The atmosphere was a combination of comfort, ease and relaxation. The first morning I spent some time exploring the grounds and was delighted with the building's tin roofs, French doors and late 1800s, early 1900s architecture of the buildings. The landscaping was done in a tropical fashion, just as I imagined it would be. Each building was separated by pathways done in brick and I found several spots that I went back to for some quiet time.

The Hemmingway home was directly across the street, so that was my first stop. If you love Hemmingway, it's definitely worth a visit. The rest of the day I spent doing a little shopping on Duval Street, which was within walking distance. After hearing so much about Duval Street I have to say I was surprised at the quality of the local art and the shops themselves. I found it to be much more than the normal touristy type of shops I normally find on vacation. The nightlife and restaurants, such as Sloppy Joes, on Duval was an exception to the rule also.

I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and my room was clean and the bed more than comfortable. I had a chance to peek in a couple of other rooms and found each room had its own special décor. It wasn't the usual cookie cutter plan most of the larger hotel chains have. After a couple of nights out on the town I decided to sleep in and was surprised that I wasn't awaken by the maid service in the morning. They did an excellent job. The free continental breakfast was a treat and I usually had breakfast either in my room or in one of the special spots along the pathway.

The location of the Lighthouse Court makes it easy to do just about anything. The beach is close by and the Harry Truman Little Whitehouse and the Southernmost Point marker were easy to get to. But, after a day of site seeing it's also a great place to find some peace and quite. The Lighthouse Court is certainly on my list of return stays.
