I was a guest at the Southernmost on the Beach in Key West for three days and two nights. The place was absolute bliss, the hotel is located right on the beach in what's possibly the most scenic location I've ever encountered in all of Florida (that's saying a lot considering I live in Miami).
The rooms were incredible. During the day, you're host to one of the most beautiful Beach views on the Atlantic Ocean side of the coast. I suggest leaving the blinds open at night, there's nothing like rising in the morning to soft beams of sunlight reflecting off the clear, tranquil waters just feet from your balcony. As for the service, they were congenial and above all, helpful. My son managed to spill a 32 oz Fanta all over the bed (which were clean and comfortable I might add). I called reception, and within two minutes, a maid knocked on my door with a smile and fresh sheets.
I'd also like to add that the hotel caters primarily to families. The minimum age to rent a room without parental supervision is 25, meaning I could relax at night without a gaggle of drunk frat boys partying in the room next to me. I'm sure Key West natives are well aware of what I'm talking about.
Finally, the price. Rates run anywhere from $150 to $250 depending on room and night. The Southernmost is certainly not the cheapest place in Key West, but you certainly get what you pay for. Parking is free, there's a very large gym, complimentary breakfast, massage services, a pool, and a slew of other amenities. Plus, location, location, location! The hotel is located right down the street from the restaurants, bars, and clubs that make Duval Street famous. The Southernmost on the Beach has most certainly earned my business in the future.
