Duval Inn - 19th Century Atmosphere - 21st Century Comfort

Duval Street in the Florida Keys is one of my favorite spots and the Duval Inn is my favorite place to stay. I love the character and old world charm of this 19th century house. My stay has always included the charisma of the "old" days but I really appreciate the amenities of modern establishments. It took several trips to the area before I ran across the Duval Inn. There isn't a lot of advertisement for the property, so initially I didn't think it was worth a stay. Was I wrong!

This little beauty is so charming and the staff so helpful, I found myself relaxing before I was completely checked in. The property is located right off Duval Street and I never lacked for things to do. Restaurants, shopping and the nightlife were right at my fingertips and within walking distance. As a matter of fact, I didn't use my car once while there and, for a small fee, parked in their safe and convenient location. The Inn has a wonderful concierge service that can make reservations for virtually any activity I could think of and what I couldn't think of, they suggested. Their on-site bicycle rental is a real plus since I enjoy a morning ride before breakfast and if I want to take one of the many water excursions they will make the reservations.

If I just wanted to relax, the courtyard had a number of places to sit and read a book, catch some sun or to just enjoy the quiet. Or, for some serious sun rays the pool was wonderful, clean and heated. It was a great place to meet new people or to just unwind after a day of fun. I was booked in the Andora room, located by the pool. The room had wonderful hardwood floors, an oversized bathroom and the décor went well with the atmosphere. I had the pleasure of meeting some folks staying in the Hibiscus room and they were just as pleased with the décor, cleanliness and the obvious high standards of the owners.

Without question I will stay here again and again. I always feel safe, taken care of and pampered. With Duval Street right around the corner the nightly noise was never an issue and I slept very well.
