My family and I have stayed at a bunch of different properties in Key West Florida. We have paid a large amount of money and found a few bargains. Our accommodations range from the bottom of the barrel to luxurious and swanky. I am saying all of this because when I tell you that the Cayo Hueso homes are something really special you should listen. It is absolutely our family favorite. Joyce the owner and her husband are so wonderful they make everything great!

The Cayo Hueso's location is the best on the island if you want to be by the nightlife, yet be far enough away to truly feel a sense of relaxation and quiet. We have stayed in Joyce's bungalow like cottages three times now, most recently a large three bedroom two bath with a private pool. Yes I said private pool! Did I mention it was heated? The best Key West Vacation Rentals at the best rates. The bathrooms were so large, the pool area was surrounded by tropical foliage. What a great, kitchen, grill, and all the furniture and fully stocked stuff. The great thing about having a house to yourself is the way you can spend the day trucking around Key West and come home to your own couch and plop down in the living room.

Some of the other properties you can choose from have a shared pool that is so huge and nice in the back! Sometimes we left our private pool to go next door and socialize with new people staying in some of her other properties. We wanted to book our next stay but she is so popular with repeat customers she was full. I suggest calling and being flexible if you can. It is worth changing your dates to stay here. Another cool thing about having your own private home is if you have to yell at your kids you will not disturb the other vacationers! We plan to stay with her again every time we come to Key West. You can rent a cushioned lounge chair for the beach which is just a block away! If you want to do some serious exploring you'll find a moped and cart rental across the street. For a large group, like a wedding party or family reunion her properties are ideal, because everything is so private and close together. She can even accommodate large amounts of beds in each home. Much more than you could imagine. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with the Cayo Hueso Cottages!

My wife, teenage daughter and I spent a week at the two bedroom unit at Cayo Hueso in February of 2010. We had a fantastic time! The cottage was neat and clean and in a location that worked well for us. We could walk the length of Duval to get toward the activities of Mallory Square and return later to the seclusion of the cottage. We had a grill on the deck that overlooked the small pool we shared with the other cottage. We liked the landscaping and the fact the group of cottages were fenced and gated in to keep our bikes secure. Joyce also arranged for parking for us (hard to find on Key West). We're trying to get back this winter.
